Welcome. This is the website of the Independent Monitor of the Newark Department of Public Safety’s Police Division (“NPD”). This website provides information about the Independent Monitoring Team, its responsibilities, and the Consent Decree – the Court Ordered agreement between the U.S. Department of Justice and City of Newark to institute a number of police reforms.

The Independent Monitoring Team hopes this website will help the Newark community engage with the Consent Decree process. As you will find on the tabs above, this site contains the Independent Monitoring Team’s status reports on NPD’s progress with Consent Decree reforms, notice of Consent Decree events, and a form to provide feedback to the Independent Monitoring Team.
