The purpose of the Consent Decree is that “police services delivered to the people of Newark fully comply with the Constitution and laws of the United States, promote public and officer safety, and increase public confidence in the NPD and its officers.”  In achieving this goal, Newark community members will play a vital role in how the Consent Decree is implemented by voicing their experiences, concerns, and ideas at community events and policy forums and through surveys and feedback forms.
